One of our pupils needs your help!
This is Nicholas's appeal:
My name is Nicholas and I am 10 years old. Lots of people mistake me for a girl because I have quite long hair but I don't mind I am used to it now. When I was 6 years old I've seen an article about a boy who was growing his hair for a charity and I thought that it was a brilliant idea so I've decided that I want to do the same. I was growing my hair for nearly 4 years and my hair is now 65 cm (26 inches) long so I think I've done pretty well.
I am supporting the "Abbie's Army" charity. They fund medical research to give hope to DIPG families.
DIPG or "Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma" is the most aggressive and fatal of all brain cancer types and it mainly affects children aged 4 to 9 years. Because of where it's located it makes surgery impossible. Currently there are no effective treatments or cure available. The average survival time from diagnosis for a child remains at just 9 months. DIPG is affecting roughly 40 children a year in the UK but because it is being treated as a "lost cause" there is no direct Government funding so it is really up to us all to help and contribute into the research effort.
I think that no child should be treated as a "lost cause" no matter how slim their chances are, I strongly believe that every child deserves that chance and HOPE FOR THE FUTURE and absolutely every child is worth fighting for.
I will be very grateful if you could donate whatever you can to this vital cause. Any donation that can aid research and development of new clinical treatments to benefit these children is invaluable. No child should be given diagnosis without any hope.

Also when I do my haircut (I am not sure about the exact date yet) my hair will go to the "Little Princess Trust".
Thank you very much for taking your time to read my appeal.
