Special visitor: Celebrating Former Head of Infants Mrs Ashby’s 85th Birthday!

We were absolutely delighted to welcome a very special guest back to Fulbridge on Thursday 22nd October - Mrs Ashby, a former Head of Fulbridge Infant School.

It was a wonderful trip down memory lane, as Mrs Ashby was joined by two other familiar faces from Fulbridge's history: Val Collingridge (former LSA and Admin Assistant) and Marje Armstrong (Mrs Ashby’s former secretary).
Mrs Ashby visited us to celebrate her milestone 85th birthday, which took place earlier this month on 11th October. After her time leading the Infant school, Mrs Ashby went on to become an Ofsted inspector, eventually retiring to Spain. She has since moved back to the UK and now lives in Bourne with her husband, David, and she has 3 daughters.
Accompanied by our current Fulbridge staff, Miss Barnes, Mrs Burton, and Mrs WIlson, our visitors enjoyed a tour of the school to see how much Fulbridge has changed and grown. This was followed by tea and biscuits in Mrs Ashby's former office, which is now the Boardroom.
During her tour, Mrs Ashby expressed her amazement at how much the school has transformed, sharing how wonderful it is to see such a vibrant, child-friendly environment. She also shared a fascinating piece of school history: she was actually the person who originally chose the Fulbridge uniform colours that our pupils still proudly wear today.
It was wonderful to catch up, share memories, and celebrate such a special birthday with a valued part of our school's history.
Thank you so much for visiting us— you will always part of the Fulbridge family and you are welcome back anytime.
